2017 - Karelle was commissioned by the World Happiness Summit to make an interactive installation that would invite participants to knit, crochet and make pom poms and add their stitches to the ever expanding "Interknit". This was the birth of The Interknit!
Knitting is a know health booster. In 2019, New York Time posted an article that explored the health benefits to hand crafts. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/19/at-home/knitting-mood-booster.html
Karelle Levy along with Eva Rodriguez knit the base structure in happy yarns on a Passap DM - 80 hand knitting loom. The installation hung from the ceiling in a chandelier form cascading to the floor to connect with the people that came to enjoy and participate.
People of every age, demographic and origin contributed to the sculpture. Those who knew, joined in with ease. Those who didn't were assisted with their stitches.
